School Advisory Board

A School Advisory Board recognizes the expertise and dedication present in the laity, and available to our Catholic schools; at the same time it recognizes that the school’s viability and long-term vitality rest on broadening the school’s base of support in the community.

A School Advisory Board has authority for decision-making for the school in specified areas; this authority is delegated by the Pastor (or Superintendent of Catholic Schools) in the areas of vision and mission; institutional development; finance and facilities; and marketing and recruitment. The School Advisory Board is empowered to cooperate and collaborate with the principal and the Pastor (or Superintendent) to support the work of administering and leading the school.

The role and authority of the board exist in clear relationship with the authority of the local ordinary, Cardinal George, and are delegated and endorsed by the Pastor or the Superintendent of Catholic schools. There are guidelines about composition. Boards are empowered in these specified areas,
  • Ministry Effectiveness (Mission/Vision/Faith based Core Values);
  • Member Development
  • Planning and Policy
  • Fiscal Management (Finances, and Facilities);
  • Institutional Advancement (Communication; Development; Marketing; Enrollment/Recruitment and Retention)
